Day 2: But it's beach day!

So the second day in Santa Rosa we decided to head to the coast. It. was. PERFECT! It felt amazing outside - there was no wind! And the kids LOVED it. Adam wouldn't stop eating the sand, but who didn't see that one coming??

See my fake tooth? :)

The kids were loving the seagulls. It was actually Adam who was having the stand off with them. It was hilarious!

Hey guys.

Liv loved playing with Grandma Sherrie.

Return from whence you came!

I'm almost worried that he enjoyed eating the sand...

They were trying so hard to get Adam to bury his feet, too.

After the beach, Sherrie decided we should go get pedicures - best mother-in-law EVER! :)

Unexpected trip to Santa Rosa 2011: Day 1

Our first day in Santa Rosa - Livy was loving hanging out with Grandma Sherrie. Poor Grandma, she was probably asked over 1 billion questions just in the first hour that Liv was with her.

That's right. Grandma Sherrie and Grandpa Rick have a bounce house. Amazing!

The night after all of our dental visits - we decided to go play at the park nearby. It's so awesome - the kids LOVED it!

Livy's First Dentist Visit

So we all had appointments on Tuesday - even Livy Lou! This was her first appointment and she was so excited to have Grandpa Rick be her dentist because we kept telling her that he was going to fix my tooth and that he makes sure our teeth are okay.

Here she is outside the office! We promised her ice cream if she didn't cry. I am not above bribing in these situations! I don't even care how counter productive the bribe might be!!! :)

In the chair with Grandpa. She really did an amazing job! Rick was SO impressed. He said she was just like a little adult!

And the best part is - no cavities AND her bite has corrected itself. Woo! We thought we would be paying BIG MONEY to get that fixed one day!

(Our not so) Happy 4th of July!

Well, our 4th of July this year was eventful - to say the ABSOLUTE LEAST. It started out with Matt and I meeting my parents and brothers at the tennis courts. Matt and I were playing while my mom played with the kiddlies at the park next to the courts. Then we all gathered to watch Matt and my dad play doubles against my two brothers.

And this is where the FREAK ACCIDENT occurred...

My mom and I were leaving the court for something - I don't even remember - and I was walking behind Matt who had a ball coming at him. It landed way deep so I assumed he wouldn't go after it - WRONG. He turned around and he wasn't even swinging but his racquet came into direct contact with my tooth. Not just any tooth. My very front left tooth. It was my forever nightmare realized. I'm not kidding. I have had nightmares ever since I was little about losing one of my front teeth and I always wake up sweating and terrified. So when it hit and I immediately felt it loose - I just burst into tears. Luckily my mom was right there to hold me. I wasn't crying out of pain, although the blood would have made you think otherwise - I was crying because I knew I was going to lose my freaking tooth!!

We had no options. The tooth was cracked across and we don't have insurance that would really cover that right now - so we immediately went home - packed our bags (by packed our bags I mean we hurriedly threw random clothes into bags and hoped for the best) - and took off to CA to see Matt's dad - our dental hero!

We totally lucked out - I was planning on taking off to CO that day with my parents for a week - so I had no obligations at home - and Matt was planning to go on trek but there happened to be another person who wanted to go so he was able to bail last minute.

(About 8 or 9 hours into the drive.)

So we knew there was nothing Rick could do that night so we called up our long lost BFFs - the Ruggles - and asked if we could crash that night at their place so we weren't in the car a full 12 hours with two teeny ones. We even got to watch the fireworks with them that night!

Also - Adam was loving Rawson - he wouldn't stop hugging him - it was so cute - I need to get the pics from Raquel. He first walked up to Rawson and head butted him and then hugged him - that means Adam REALLY like him :) They were meant to be best friends.

Liv and Cos had a bit of an awkward reunion but within minutes they were BFFs again playing with barbies and dolls. Liv was SO excited to hear that we were going to have a sleep over with her!

So we got to Santa Rosa in the morning just in time for my appointment. Rick took the x rays and it was exactly what he expected. Luckily, my root hadn't been damaged but the tooth was totally cracked and it had to come out. I was so depressed but I felt SO BLESSED that my father in law was the best dentist ever! So I sat in that chair for a good two hours while Rick pulled out every tool I think he has in that office. My face was constantly vibrating from the machinery in my mouth! And they all had very intense names! Rick kept asking me if I was okay because I think my face looked very worried :) However, Rick is AMAZING with the drugs - I never felt a thing! And I had A LOT done to my gums. Best root canal EVER!

So there was still some root but he had to go and take out the nerve because it was going to die eventually. Then he had to do a lot of other stuff with the root that was still in tact. Then he put a post in there for the crown that will be attached once it's finished. Luckily, the lab was able to rush order the tooth so I'll have it by Friday.

I know this sounds like the worst experience EVER - but there were really so many instances where we felt so blessed! Everything was able to work out perfectly and the cost of driving out here is probably 1/10 of what this whole procedure would have cost if we had stayed in UT and taken care of it. And that's not including Livy's appointment and Matt's cavity :)

Happy Bday/Father's Day, Babe!

Matthew turned the big 2-8 this year! I think he pulls it off well, even though he's basically 30 :) Luke's family was able to celebrate with us and the kids were so excited!

I also made him the best cake ever - I'm pretty proud!Do you like the ghetto 28? It's a chocolate cake mix with chocolate pudding mixed in. Then there's peanut butter icing and chopped up reese's in between the two layers. Then I frosted it with whipped cream and put chopped up reese's and heath bar on top. It's AMAZING and so moist!

So first it was Father's Day and then the next day it was Matt's bday - so for both occasions - his parents, my parents and I chipped in to buy this little beauty...
He'll probably tell you that this is his best b-day yet! People keep asking me what kind of gun it is and I keep telling them - I don't know. A big, heavy one?

Anyway, Matt's a fan of making lists for me so here is his...

Top 10 reasons why my husband is better than all other husbands

1. He lets me sleeps in and takes the kids when he's home in the mornings - keeper!
2. When I'm getting too crazy he'll moon me to lighten the mood haha
3. He's very thoughtful and always picks up on the little things that are important to me (So what if that line is from Scrubs - it's true!)
4. He's getting a lot better at reading my mind!
5. He supports me when I'm gone all the time for my church calling
6. He's really hot
7. He'll shave his beard for me even though it's his most prized possession
8. He listens to my crazy stories and pretends to show whatever emotion he should be showing to make me happy
9. He knows how to help me calm down when I'm feeling overwhelmed or stressed.
10. He appreciates me and leaves little notes for me when he has to leave really early in the morning.

Love you, Babe! I can't even imagine where I'd be or what I'd be doing without you! Every night in my prayers I tell Heavenly Father how grateful I am to be with you!

Park City Part 1: Obsession

So last week Matt and I were able to escape all our cares and join in the fun at the annual Wiseman Family reunion. This year it was at Park City which was incredibly convenient!

Adam and Livy had so much fun reconnecting with their CA cousins they don't get to see very often. They didn't mind seeing Aunt Amy either. :) They were all obsessed with her!

Gabrielle is Livy's only girl cousin and she LOVES her!! Livy followed her around everywhere she went and they did everything together! It was so cute.

Begin Livy obsessed with Gabrielle sequence:

They loved having matching hair!

So Adam started out the trip by giving everyone this crazy glare:

He would not stop, but by the end of the trip he was obsessed with Max who is his cousin closest to him in age. It was so funny!

It's too bad these guys don't live by each other. They'd be best friends!
